The truth is renewables and storage played a big role in ERCOT.

Renewables contained energy prices overnight. At 5am, when ERCOT spot energy prices peaked, hardly any batteries were online. But by 8am, when actual demand peaked, batteries comprised nearly 10% of ERCOT’s fuel mix and prices had fallen by more than half - and were 90% lower than previous day forecasts.

At mid-day, solar was contributing more to the ERCOT grid than gas, and wind power saved consumers tens of millions of dollars throughout the event.

You may have been misled by anti-clean energy advocates spreading misinformation. For instance, Sen. Mayes Middleton used a disingenuous grid snapshot in the middle of the night to attack wind power.

What about renewables/storage failing in ERCOT during this latest storm?
